De Akai AT-2600 komt niet heel veel voor. Hij heeft 5 gangs en 3 keramische filters voor FM.
Its features include high blend, a variable muting level control and variable output, and it’s also one of the few tuners with a deviation meter. Most AT-2600s have a silver face but it was also available in black. Our panelist Bob says, “The AT-2600 has unbelievable sensitivity. With narrower filters installed, it would likely be a killer cheap DX machine. I think it may be the separate AM and FM tuning gangs (only on the AT-2600, not on the AT-2650) that helps. That was *not* cheaper for Akai to do. They are not built like a KT-8300, but what else is? The AT-2600 beats the pants off a Magnum Dynalab.
Volgens de website fmtunerinfo.com is de ontvangst-gevoeligheid behoorlijk verbeterd als de balun aan de binnenkant van de 2600 los gemaakt wordt. Netjes is natuurlijk ook als er een nette 75 ohm connector aan de achterkant wort gemonteerd. Dat ouderwets geschroef is maar niks.
Als de At-2600 op de juiste manier ge”mod” is, is de kwaliteit heel erg goed t.o.v. de beruchte Kenwood KT-7300, en de tuning is veel beter.
De waarde van de AT-2600 is momenteel (2024) rond de 100-200 euro. Afhankelijk van de toestand waarin het apparaat is.
